About The Role

CLA is hiring a CFO for our growing CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services) in Massachusetts . Our CAAS service supports clients by filling interim positions such as Finance Director, Town Accountant, Treasurer/Collector, School Business Manager, Grants Manager, and more. We also handle annual projects like state reporting to DOR and DESE, chart of account design, implementations, internal controls, and forecasting.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform CFO functions as part of the client’s accounting services team.
  2. Identify and implement best practices to add value to the client.
  3. Work with clients to set financial policy and drive overall strategy.
  4. Lead financial administration, planning, budgeting, capital planning, internal controls, and analysis.
  5. Oversee long-term budget planning and cost management.
  6. Monitor budgets and present operational metrics.
  7. Manage projects, oversee team members, and review their work within the CAAS team.

Qualifications

  • At least eight years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; related experience, education, or training may substitute.
  • Experience in state and local government municipalities is required.
  • CPA and/or CGA certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of MUNIS, Softright, Vadar, and/or QuickBooks is preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Data Analytics, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are preferred.
  • Project and client management experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
